SSI Specialty Course – Underwater Archaeology, the course will be held in Mali Lošinj, Croatia between 16th and 21st September 2014. In case of bad weather, the course can start early or can be delayed.
The program includes a theoretical and 5/6 dives practices at sea. The practical lessons consist of learning the ability to draw a map of the archaeological site, underwater navigation, photo documentation of how to do an archaeological dig, etc. The lectures, which will be held after work on the archaeological site, provide insights on what they have learned in practice. The entire course will take place directly on a real archaeological site.
All students must be in possession of their own diving equipment also complete with tanks and weights. It is advisable to bring a quantity of weights higher than that normally used and an outline suitable for water temperatures of about 19-21 degrees celsius. In case of bad weather, we also recommend the use of waterproof clothing and rain boots to stay dry in land too. The cost of the course including the diving card after the exam is 360,00 €. The number of course participants is limited and therefore we ask you to confirm your attendance no later than one week before beginning of course for better organizing all the necessary documentation for the course and the course itself.
